Not long ago, I became puzzled by the verses of Leviticus 23 dealing with the Holy Days of God. I, like most all others, had assumed that those before us knew how to understand the scriptures when it came to basic facts. How wrong can we be. It seems to me that no one, NO ONE, knows when Pentecost really occurs. Most all the religions that try to keep this Holy day, think that it falls 7 weeks of Sabbaths after either Passover or Easter. The Jews of today, think after Passover, and the Christians think after the later. Both are wrong.
The correct time is 7 Sabbaths after the Sabbath of the week in which the wheat harvest begins in Israel. Here are the scriptures to prove it. Lev 23:9-21 "And Yahweh spoke unto Moses, saying, ' Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the first-fruits of your harvest unto the priest, and he shall wave the sheaf before Yahweh, to be accepted for you; on the morrow after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it." This is a wave offering of a sheaf of wheat. We know it is not the barley harvest.
Now, go to Ex 34:22 "And ye shall observe the feast of weeks, of the first-fruits of the wheat harvest.." The word here in ancient Hebrew really IS "wheat". There is a separate word for barley. This waving of the sheaf of wheat is a separate offering and meal, that STARTS the count of weeks toward the day of Pentecost, the Feast of Weeks. "And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the sheaf an he lamb without blemish of the first year for a burnt (meal) offering unto Yahweh..... and ye shall eat neither bread, nor parched grain (not corn, there is little corn in Israel) nor green, until the selfsame day that ye have brought an offering unto your Elohim, a statue forever throughout all your generations in all your dwellings ."
Now it is from this Sabbath, that the true count of weeks begins. There is nothing said here about counting from Passover and certainly not from Easter. "And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the Sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering ; seven Sabbaths shall be complete. Even unto the morrow after the seventh Sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a NEW meat offering unto Yahweh. Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loafs of two tenth deals: they shall be of fine flour ; they shall be baked with leaven; the first-fruits unto Yahweh."
This is the true day of Pentecost, the feast of weeks. A celebration of the end of the spring wheat harvest in Israel. And this falls about 5-6 weeks after the current accepted day for Pentecost! As the current wheat harvest in Israel starts usually during the first week of May. Pentecost is one of the three major feast days during the year. All males were to come and present themselves before the Lord/Yahweh at those three Holy times: Unleaven Bread Week (aka Passover), Pentecost, and Week of Tabernacles.
It is such an important Holy Day that the Holy Spirit descended upon the first disciples on this day to begin the age of the Church of God. We are still to keep it. "And ye shall proclaim on that selfsame day, that it may be an holy convocation unto you; ye shall do no servile work on that day; it shall be a statue for ever in all your dwellings throughout all your generations ." And this is the End Times Generation now.
Those to come out of Babylon are to keep this Holy Day, and now you know when it truly is.
Shalom, God Bless.
